Welcome

Hello, and a warm welcome to my website, my name is Sheela, I am a qualified integrative therapist based in South London.

Having sat in the client's chair and experienced the benefits of counselling I understand how being in a space where you are fully accepted and truly heard can be profoundly validating.  Whether you are finding things difficult or simply want to understand yourself more fully, therapy can offer a place to pause, reflect, and feel supported.

I can offer you a place where you can explore, grow, and begin to flourish into your authentic self.  It is a collaborative process where your autonomy is respected. My role is to walk alongside you with empathy and honesty as you explore what matters most to you. Together, we can gently make sense of what may be influencing you, both in the present and from the past, creating space for greater awareness, personal growth, and meaningful change.

At the heart of it, I can offer you  a space where you can bring every part of yourself — the parts you are proud of, and the parts you may struggle to accept —  knowing that all the while, you will be met with warmth, compassion, and genuine acceptance.

About me

In my practice I draw from a combination of strategies, including person-centred and psychodynamic theories to create a personalised approach for each person I see. I offer a compassionate, non‑judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported whilst going at your own pace. I believe counselling can be empowering, and I work relationally with my clients. I am interested in the human condition — what shapes us and influences how we think, feel, and behave.

As a counsellor, I strive to be authentic,  supportive, culturally sensitive, and wholeheartedly  welcoming. It is important to me that each person feels secure and comfortable when they spend time with me—safe enough to relax, exhale, and to embrace their authentic selves without worrying about judgement or misunderstanding.  I know how vulnerable it can feel to open up, especially when parts of your identity or your experiences haven’t always been fully seen or respected in the world around you. Because of this lived experience, I carry a strong sense of responsibility to create a space where difference is not just accepted, but valued. I want the people that I work with to know that their stories  matter, and that they don’t have to shrink or edit themselves to be understood.

I don't  tell clients what to do or push them to discuss unwanted topics. I encourage openness and honesty on both sides, offering insight and a trusted space to talk and be heard. I believe that being as open and honest as possible helps you get the most out of counselling. Talking about things that you've never shared before might seem overwhelming, but you're not facing it alone, I am by your side.

My experience includes supporting people facing many challenges, such as depression, anxiety, identity and self acceptance, suicidal thoughts, sexual assault, anger issues, stress, bereavement, loneliness, relationship issues, coping with illness and chronic pain, childhood abuse and neglect, amongst others.

If this resonates with you, or you are considering talking therapy, you are warmly invited to get in touch and book a session. I would be glad to support you on your journey.

What I offer

I offer an initial consultation, which is a free fifteen minute phone call to discuss whether we may be compatible. If you decide to go ahead we will book an initial assessment to discuss your needs and wishes and personal details in more depth. This will last fifty minutes and is usually online or over the phone, where we can collaboratively determine the best approach for you. If you wish to work with me, we can set an initial number of sessions and review regularly as we go forward. Sessions are usually held at the same time each week. Should that not suit your needs, we can explore alternative counselling methods or available support options.

Each session lasts fifty minutes and costs £60, payment can be made by bank transfer prior to your session, or cash on the day. I offer concessions if you are a student or you are unemployed.

I operate a cancellation policy and kindly request that you provide a minimum of 48 hours notice to cancel your session, without this the full fee is payable.

If you choose to work with me, counselling is available in-person or online.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)  and I work within their ethical framework link

I am also a member of BAATN (The Black, African and AsianTherapy Network) link

Powerful is our need to be known, really known by ourselves and others, even if only for a moment.
